KNOW IF WATER ON THE MOON IS DRINKABLE.

No, water on the lunar is not drinkable as is, but it could be made drinkable through purification for the following reasons:

  1. ContaminantsLunar water contains contaminants like hydrogen, carbon monoxide, mercury, calcium, and magnesium.
  2. TemperatureThe sunlit moon experiences extreme temperature changes of up to 300°C, making it difficult for water to survive.
  3. Lunar soil: Moon water is likely mixed with small pieces of lunar soil, also known as regolith. When wet, regolith turns into a grainy, tasteless liquid.
  4. PurificationPurifying lunar water is a difficult process that requires a lot of effort and resources.
NASA's VIPER rover is currently searching for ice and other resources on the moon's South Pole. The water could be used for drinking, breathable oxygen, or rocket fuel.
The UK Space Agency's Aqualunar Challenge is a competition to create new technologies that will allow astronauts to access safe water on the moon. The winning technology could play a key role in NASA's mission to create a permanent base on the moon.
