IS THERE WATER ON THE MOON ?

Yes, there is water on the lunar:

  1. Amount

The moon has less water than Earth, but the poles may contain tons of ice. The sunlit moon has 100 times less water than the Sahara Desert.
Location: Water is found all over the moon's surface, but it's mainly in the form of ice. The moon's poles have the highest concentrations of ice water in permanently shadowed regions that never receive sunlight.

      2. Origin
Water on the lunar may come from:
Comet impacts
Icy micrometeorites colliding on the lunar surface
Lunar dust interactions with the solar wind.
Interactions of solar wind hydrogen ions with oxygen-bearing minerals.

      3. Confirmation
NASA's SOFIA confirmed the presence of water molecules in sunlit areas of the moon. In 2009, NASA's LCROSS spacecraft was intentionally crashed into the moon's surface, ejecting water ice and confirming its presence in the bottom of craters.

     4. Future
Astronauts may one day be able to make lunar water drinkable.

Confirmation of Moon Water – Sunlit Surface (2020)Data from the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA), revealed that in Clavius crater, water exists in concentrations roughly equivalent to a 12-ounce bottle of water.
