Sber introduces its own operating system into the register of domestic software

It is needed to support the Gostech platform and use it with government customers

Sbertech, a subsidiary of Sberbank, has filed an application with the Russian Software Registry to register its own server operating system (OS) Platform V SberLinux OS Server.
The application was submitted on April 27, 2023. Registration will allow using the solution for the public sector, in particular, for transferring departments to the services of the Gostech platform, which is being developed by Sbertech.
It follows from the application that Platform V SberLinux OS Server is a server OS. Such operating systems allow you to manage infrastructure, provide hardware virtualization (i.e., a visual representation of information about the use of server computing power), and deploy application services and software in the cloud. They are designed for the simultaneous operation of many users or services,
in connection with this, they are subject to more requirements in terms of reliability and fault tolerance, security, as well as scaling, explains Alexey Kovalenya, Technical Director of DataRu. “A server OS should be used when infrastructure is required around the clock, and the likelihood of failures.
